Text Box: Diane believes  that the Constitutional right to bear arms is an individual right.  Her background in law enforcement makes her a strong advocate for gun owners’ rights for the sake of personal protection.  Living on the Eastern Plains, she has on more than one occasion had to physically protect her livestock from predatory animals such as coyote.  She also lives within hearing distance of the Big Cat farm—  a situation which makes her livestock more than a little nervous—especially on warm summer nights!

Text Box: Diane helped organize the ‘Bring Home the Troops’ rally for MoveOn.org in Colorado Springs in December 2005 in front of Rep. Joel Hefley’s office.  To the left:  Retired Lt. Col. Ralf Zimmerman spoke on the lack of body armor and proper equipment for the troops. To the right:  Elizabeth West of Calhan spoke about the illegitimacy of the Iraq War which took the life of her grandson, James West.  The theme of the rally was, “ Mission Accomplished.  Support our Troops. Bring them Home!”
Text Box: Diane worked with the Secret Service supervising the front gate security at this Kerry/Edwards rally in La Junta in 2004.  There were more than 5,000 Dems in attendance on this sweltering summer day.  She also worked VIP security at the Pueblo rally later that fall.  Hubby Shon shook Kerry’s hand and came back with an autograph!
